    Not as standard. Read more about Japanese cars, speed limits and driving habits. No mention of speed restrictors put on engines, and instead mentions that most people drive about 10 kph over the speed limit, most of the time.

    Description of an informal speedway for petrolheads in Japan, no mention of speed restrictors there, either, in spite of police observation.

    Are you really worried about speed, or acceleration?

    Hard to know what might have happened to your vehicle. Have you had a mechanic look at it, see if the engine is clogged up or otherwise running inefficiently? A tune-up might do it a world of good.
