In 1920, when Roald was still only three years old, his seven-year-old sister, Astri, died from appendicitis. Just weeks later, his father died of pneumonia at the age of 57, following grief from his daughter's death. His mum died of natural causes in 1967. His widow, Felicity, is still alive I believe.
