Those birds who wholly or chiefly feed on the meat taken by hunting are called birds of prey, as the initial comprehension of the name suggested. They feed on birds that are smaller than them and even other small animals, which they hunt and kill for their food.
Particularly there are two classes of these birds, the hawks and the falcons. The first class that is the hawks, consists of eagles like the bald eagle, which is also symbol of the United States. Another creature in this class is the golden eagle. As for the second class that comprises of the falcons, who are although smaller creatures than the hawks but share the same set of characteristics that include hooked bills, outstandingly keen vision and great powers of flight.
Another important trait of the birds of prey is that they are expert at the art of gliding and hovering, both of which they require to exude complete control over their prey. The fundamental strategy that they incorporate is the stoop, when they spot their prey from above and later on close their wings and swoop upon the victim.
