What Is Child Labour?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Child Labour is when children lower than age stipulated by law are required or employed to work to earn a livelihood. The United Nations considers child labour to be exploitative. Though child labour is today not seen in the developed western world it played a major role there during the Industrial Revolution with a major section of the workforce being children. In third world countries, especially in Asia and Africa child labour is still widely used. Poor families generally have a number of children as this will bring in additional income. In the developed world employing children is seen as a violation of human rights and they believe that a child should only be involved in studies, play and household chores. There are certain groups that advocate a ban on products made by using children as labour.
