Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

For anyone who hasn't ever heard of Swindon town football club, they are a team from the South West of England. They were founded in 1881 by Rev. William Pitt but it has been suggested that the club may have well been founded two years prior to this. In 1894, Swindon Town turned professional and entered the Southern league which was founded in that year.

They have had many ups and downs in their history from the highs of being promoted to the premiership in 1993 and winning the league cup in 1969 to being relegated to the basement divisions of the football leagues.

Some great players and managers that will remain as Swindon town heroes have come and gone including Don Rogers, Glenn Hoddle, Ossie Ardilles, Frank burrows and there are many great other names as well.

The nickname of Swindon Town, the robins, is shared by other local clubs including Bristol City and Cheltenham FC. Swindons home colors are red and white and the capacity of the stadium (County Ground) is 15728.
