Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Tipperary village is located to the south-west of County Tipperary, Ireland. It has a population of 5, 000 within the urban areas.

The town became a center of population because of its medieval foundation during the rein of King John. The fortifications have vanished but its central area still has the ancient environment with wide streets. There are two ancient monuments in the Main Street. The first one is of Charles Kickham, who was a poet and patriot. The second one being 'Maid of Erin' dedicated in the memory of Irish patriots. These monuments are dedicated in the memory of the people who sacrificed their lives to help Ireland get independence. The first battle of "Irish war of Independence" took place at Solloghead Beg quarry in the year 1921.
