Discuss Algernon's Contribution To The Comic Pattern Of The Play?

The importance of being earnest oscar wilde

I would say Algernon is the wittiest character in the play; he makes actual jokes, whereas most of the  other characters are funny without knowing it. He goes down to Jack's country house to amuse himself and try to make mischief.

Another important point about Algernon is his creation of Bunbury -the whole idea of Bunbury is central to the way the play works, with people using imagination to help them escape from social
    restrictions.

There is a good section on Algernon in Sparknotes - if you go to the short section on this character, you'll find a link to a longer essay.
