How Do You Rebuild Ram?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The first thing you need to do is to check if your RAM is indeed faulty. You can do so with the help of a RAMCHECK memory tester, a piece of hardware in which you have t connect your RAM to find out if it is working or not . The RAMCHECK will appropriately give the pass/fail message. If the RAMCHECK shows that the piece is faulty, then you should retrieve the data sheet from the manufacturer.

Find the manufacturer and the part number of the RAM, usually located on the small white label on the module. Next go to the manufacturer's website and search by the part number.  You can use the RAMCHECK PC interface to find out the faults. With the pin number (circuit link to the test socket) and layout from the datasheet, you can find the defect back to the chip which is not working. When you know where the defective chip is located, you will have to get it replaced. Call a technician with chip-level expertise to repair the RAM and rebuild it. He will do so with the help of various soldering and de-soldering equipment and specialised techniques.
