There are five major oceans throughout the earth. However, there  are smaller branches of oceans  that are called seas, gulfs, and bays. The five major oceans are the Indian, Antarctic, Arctic, Pacific, and Atlantic Ocean.
These oceans cover about 70% of the Earth's surface and contains about 97% of the Earth's water supply.
