What Does The Average Of A Set Of Numbers Mean?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

    The average of a set of numbers shows the central tendency of data. It gives a measure of expected value of a data set. The average value is a single value and it shows that most of the values lie near which number. If all the numbers in the set of data are same then average is equal to that number which is repeated in the data like average of 6,6,6 is 6. There are three types of averages including mean, median and mode. For calculating the average of a set of numbers the simplest formula used is as follows:

    Average = x1 + x2 + x3 + ... + xn/n

    Where, x represents the numbers in a data and n is the total number of values in the data.
