My Dog Has A Group Of Mini Tumors(?) On His Penis. What Can They Be And How Can The Condition Be Treated?
We recently moved to a house with a small backyard and my dog (Cocker Spaniel) lives there now. My husband just noticed these little tumors-like things bulging out on his penis and the skin around them has darkened a bit. My dog has no previous history of any kind of infections/illnesses... What can we do to treat this condition?
Answers
Is your dog intact? Dogs can get transmissible venereal tumors--a sexually transmitted disease or can be transmitted by oral contact. This may be what you are seeing on your dog's genitals.
There are other tumors that can affect the skin and soft tissue just less common in the area your dog is affected.
A contact dermatitis could cause eruption of multiple papules. Multiple foreign objects like cactus thorns or grass can imbed in the skin--this is not very likely.
Have your dog examined by a veterinarian to diagnose the tumors your dog has developed. There are treatment options for the things listed above.
