Can I Take Out My Puppy After His First Injection?

No. Pup's shouldn't be taken out in public until  a little while after their LAST set of puppy shots. Your vet will advise you of when you can go out. The reason puppy's receive so many shots on the schedule they do is because the immune system (titer level's) is often too high or too low for the vaccination to have actually worked  so we hope to hit our window of opportunity. Unfortunately, for parvo in particular it seems to generally be one of those last set's that are effective. Puppy's should not be considered to be protected against anything until these last ones are done and the immune system has leveled back out a bit. A titer test can be done to check immunity to a particular thing, but when dealing with puppy's and the initial immunity's it's easier and cheaper (and safest) to follow the general schedule. Some may receive a parvo vaccination at 6 weeks but in general pup's recieve shots starting at 8 weeks every 3 to 4 weeks until the age of 4 or 5 months or so. Rabies is given somewhere between 3 to 6 months the first time depending on where you live and whether or not they are going to be traveling across state lines and your vet can let you know that as well. Your vet can also advise you on whether or not your pup should be receiving vaccines for things like lyme or lepto ect. Depending on where you live and your lifestyle.
