It is geographically located in the center of the state and it received its name from a little rock formation that was found on the banks of the La Petit Roche River. (La Petit Roche is french for The little rock). Several famous or well known people are from Little Rock, Arkansas. For example, Brooks Robinson was born in Little Rock in 1937. He is considered to be one of the greatest third basemen in professional baseball and Bill and Hillary Clinton lived in Little Rock when Bill was Attorney General of Arkansas. The weather in Little Rock varies throughout the year. The city has two major universities that are part of the University of Arkansas System. The campuses of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences are located within Little Rock.
