Goats have horns to protect them selves. Just like you have hands to defend yourself in a fight ??? They have horns to protect them selves my predators like, wild dogs, humans (for hunting) Goats are very unique animals. I had 4 goats 2 babies and 2 adult mothers. My goat (baby (kid)) was a girl and was black and white and she was a tiny little girl, her name was Gracie and was abandoned by her mother, I took her into my own care and feed her with a bottle, she became my best friend, i gave her piggy backs, i taught her how to play hide and go seek, i taught her Chassey. Over a period of 2 months she was gr owning horns, very sharp horns. She started using them to protect herself. In a case when a feral dog attacked her when she was very young she  was able to use of what she had of her horns to fight the feral dog away. I taught her how to use them, considering i am a human. Her mother died unexpectedly and was left with the other mother goat who abused her badly, but she had her horns to fight the other mother goat who was 5 times her age. Gracie then was only about 2 and half months. Then it came to her 3 months of her tiny life when she became very ill that no vet or any one can explain. She had cease rs, bleeding eyes, fits, and frothing at the mouth and tears !!! And she wasnt bitten by a snake the vet was sure of that thing. She went into a xray room where her body was riddled by worms. Every tiny, part of her body was riddled with worms, her heart, lungs, kidneys, bile every thing. She was either going to have a surgery and be brain damaged, or put down. I choose put down and went to the table to say good bye. She was in such bad state i didnt know what to do but cry and pray she could get rid of the pain. Her breathing became slower and slower until the breaths were so shortened that what had to be down was meant to be down now! She was gone and such a little age 3 months and there was so much more in her life. You are probably thinking a goat WTF but no she became part of the family and was a blessing from God. She was like my baby. She will never be forgotten. And at that i was 14 and no 14 should ever go through something like that, even a human dieing or a loving pet that becomes part of the family.
      RIP GRACIE - LEE :)
