Peg Solitaire is a slat game for one thespian connecting movement of pegs on a board with holes. The game is acknowledged merely as Solitaire in the United Kingdom where the certificate games are called lack of complaint. It is also referred to as Brainvita (above all in India). Some sets exercise marbles in a timber with indentations.

According to a popular story, the game was imaginary by a French aristocrat in the 17th century, when imprisoned in the Bastille. John Beasley (author of "The Ins and Outs of Peg Solitaire") has extensively searched for confirmation to support this, and has found it lacking. The first reference to this tale appeared in 1810, more than a hundred years after the supposed occasion. He believes that the vivid tale is fiction, yet it persists. In other sources, the discovery of the game is attributed to the American Indians--there is also no confirmation to hold up this.

The first proof of the game can be traced back to the court of Louis XIV, and the precise day of 1697. Several works of painting from that point in time show peg solitaire boards, representative that the game was extremely chic.
