I would agree if they we're able to justify the cost of the schools. In other words prove that the kids playing it would advance into a college hockey team and then into a professional league.

There isn't enough interest in Hockey for it to be a school sport in most areas.  Northern schools perhaps - closer to Canada, eh?  Schools have a hard enough time paying for the sports they carry.  In my school district, besides football, they have baseball, basketball, tennis, field hockey, soccer, lacrosse, indoor and outdoor marching band, and more.  They also have photography club, chess club, art club, and dozens of others.

The bottom line is the school district needs to spend their money where it will get the "most bang for the buck".

But maybe a lot of people would be interested in playing it, that means buying equipment and all of the sorts. Besides, if they already have so many, what is one more?

What is one more? Ask your local taxpayers.
