How Do I Fix A Lawn Mower?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

If your lawn mover does not start working during the spring time after a long hiatus, most probably it is due to the gas going bad. One method of testing this assumption is to splatter a very little quantity of gas into the carb and see if pops. In such a case, you are required to drain all the gas and put in new gas. On several movers there is generally gas left in the bowl which might have to be emptied before you can start your mower. Even B&S mowers that have the carb right on top might have a bowl put up inside the top of the gas tank. Your mower should work fine now.

You also need to remember to drain the tank and keep the engine on till the bowl empties itself out. You can even try using a gas preservative such as Sta-Bil before putting the mower away at the advent of the winter season.

Can this be applied to a new 10 hp B & S generator that sat up for the winter and it won't start?? I really don't have the money to take it to a service so if there is any way that I can do something. Thanks.
