Would A Dog Be Ok Alone As A One-off?

My cousin is allergic to dogs and we have a 9 month old cocker spaniel. She normally has someone with her all day. However she is ok alone for a couple of hours at a time. Would she be ok if we left her alone for 6 hours for this one day? I have to travel about 90 miles to a wedding. I have been unable to find a dog sitter or someone who is able to take her for the day. Any suggestions?

Jane, your dog will be fine just make sure you leave him plenty of water, food and his little toys around, he might feel lonely but as you say is just for a few hours and hope he is train to do his necessity on a paper and won't do it all over the house, if he is well then go and enjoy your self at the wedding.

People leave their dog everyday for work (8hrs +/-). Dogs likely don't have memory like we do. You are talking hours and not days. Dogs don't need the coddiling, we do, they will survive like the animals they are. You think too highly of your dog, it is not a baby.

Too some people, their dogs are their babies and no one can ever think TOO HIGHLY of a animal. It is best to be over concerned then under concerned.
