When Did Adam Smith Die?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

It was on July 17th, 1790 when the father of economics Adam Smith died after living a life of sixty-seven years. It was his creation of two treaties that made him known as the father figure of the modern economics and the two treaties are known to the world as 'The Theory of Moral Sentiments' and 'An Inquiry Into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations'.

Of the abovementioned two works, the latter is considered as the earliest work that can be considered as the systematic approach about the study of the historical development of European industry and commerce. The reason that made scholars confer on him the title of the 'Father of Economics' is that it is his work that laid the foundation of the theories on which all the theories of economics are based and it was he who first propagated the freedom of trade and also the capitalism and libertarianism.
