What Is Witchcraft?

Answer Question

7 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Witchcraft is a nature religion. Wicca is a modern form of it. A wicce is a male witch. A wicca is a female witch. Wiccan means 'to spell'.

Witches do not believe in the devil, therefore witchcraft is not devil worship.

Witches believe in the old religion whereby there is a goddess and a god. There are many gods and goddesses in different forms. When casting spells and calling upon a god or a goddess, it is wise to choose the right one!

The god Pan has horns on his head and hooves on his feet and a tail, but in no way is he the devil.

Witchcraft is the practice of HEALING! Wiccnas do this and believe in Pan, the God of the Wild. They are no diff rent from you and me and do not care what religion you are. They live centuries of slaughter from Christians, so DO NOT try to conform them. There are no spells of death or curses, only health, healing, and to better the world. Wiccans will not harm others, as it goes against what they believe, so there is NO REASON to fear them.

I must say that you are insensitive to anyone that shows any interest in witchcraft. You probally spend all day reading the bible and are trying to convert everyone you see into Christianity.

DO NOT say that someone will be denied heaven because "it's Devil Worship"

At one time a great many people believed in witches and in witchcrafts. A witch was person of great power and authority, whose goal was to do harm and who worked with the help of the devil. The mischief that such a person was able to commit was witchcraft.

Witchcraft could be directed against a personal enemy, or even against a community. Even hurricanes and epidemics were thought to be the result of witchcraft. Because people then lived in fear, ignorance and superstition, witchcraft was an easy way of explaining the unforeseen disasters. Later in the same olden era the plagues in Europe was being blamed on witchcraft.

Early societies and religions forbade witchcraft on pain of death. Witch hunts took place in the American colonies. Between 1647 and 1663 hundreds of people in Massachusetts Connecticut were accused of witchcraft, and 14 were hanged. But with the beginning of 18th century, belief in witches faded. People began to understand the real reasons of the things they had feared like drought, thunder, lightning, mental and physical illness.

Witchcraft involves the idea of a diabolical pact or at least an appeal to the intervention of evil spirits. In such cases this supernatural aid is usually invoked either to invoke the death of someone, or to awaken the dead, and create spells and curses. In the traditional belief, not only of the dark ages, but of post-Reformation times, the witches or wizards addicted to such practices entered into a compact with Satan, adjured Christ and the Sacraments, observed 'the witches' Sabbath' performing infernal rites which often took the shape of a parody of the Mass or the offices of the Church. By Devil worship they would, according to Myth, receive from him preternatural powers, like flying, ability in creating and making spells and assuming another form.

Witchcraft is just another phony belief system like all others, including christianity. It just gives narrow minded people something to believe in. An opiate for the masses

It is a terrible thing to say. What if someone came up to you and said: " Your way is stupid. My way is right. You aren't going to heaven becasue of what you think" How would you feel?
