There are a number of specific grants available for low income families with disable children in the United Kingdom. These grants include the Sure Start Maternity Grants, the Funeral Payment, Community Care Grants, Budgeting Loans, Crisis Loans, Working Tax Credit etc. There are a number of conditions which must be met before any of these grants can be availed of. The amount of payment or grant that becomes eligible also differs from person to person.
Take for instance the Sure Start Maternity Grant. Here the person is eligible to receive around five hundred pounds. The application has to be made during the eleven week period before delivery till three months after that date. The grant is also available where children are being adopted.
