What Is The Tallest Animal?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The giraffe is the world's tallest animal. It can grow to 19 feet tall. It can weigh up to 3,000 pounds. Females are generally shorter and weigh less than the males, or bulls do. The girraffe gets its name from a Roman word that is a conjugation of the name for camel and the name for leopard. It is a fitting name. The giraffe's distinctive features are like that of a camel. The coat of a giraffe is similar to a leopard's coat. The long eyelashes of a giraffe help to protect its eyes from its harsh climate of Africa. Its leopard-like coat helps to camouflage it from predators. The extremely long neck has other uses besides earning the status of tallest animal. Giraffes can feed on the highest trees and leaves that few other animals can reach. This gives them an advantage in the competitive world of the wild.
