How Do You Give A B12 Shot?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

You should give the B12 shot in the muscular area of your body.  Make sure that you read the direction that come with the package of medicine as an essential step in preparing for the shot. Wash your hands before using the needle. You can ask your health care provider for the exact dosage. Use sterile disposable needles and syringes. Once you have used them, discard them safely. At all times, follow the health-care provider's instructions.

Your healthcare source will inform you about the area of skin in which you can give yourself the B12 shot. Each day, choose another spot for the shot to lessen the pain. Make sure that you use a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to clean the skin after you give yourself the shot. Gently nip up the skin and put in the needle into the skin at a 45° angle. After you inject needle totally, release your grasp of the skin.  Inject the solution totally by gently and steadily pushing down the plunger.   After you have given yourself the b12 shot, remove the needle and syringe and press an alcohol swab on the spot where the shot was given.
