What Can Cause A UTI In Toddlers? (4 Year Olds) Does Hygiene Play A Party?

My grand daughter was diagnosed with a UTI after taking her to the emergency room. She would cry when urinating and stopped "going potty" because she hurt so bad. After her first dose of medication (orally & externally) she was better. She could "potty" without pain. It has been insinuated that her infection was caused by not bathing often enough. Is there any truth to this by medical documentation? Thank you.

UTI stands for Urinary tract infection. UTI in children is caused by holding urine for a long time, not drinking enough water and of course hygiene. Bathing might not be the the cause of problem. I believe it is because a kid does not properly clean himself after using  the bathroom. This causes the bacteria to enter the urinary tract which is the cause of UTI.
