I Need To Add A Electric Box In My Shop From The Meter, How Do I Add Another Braker To The Pole?

My shop is beside the power pole so i want to hook into that and not my braker box in the house . There is 1 big braeker at the meter for the house there is room for more how do i hook it up THANK YOU

    If there is no main breaker at the meter base on the pole, you will need to have the power company disconnect power. (Often they require that a licensed electrician get a permit to do this)  Otherwise, you have to turn off power, installed the breaker, connect the new feeder conductors to the shop, replace the cover, and turn the breaker on.
    A few things that you need to be sure of:
    1. You must install conduit to below grade as a minimum and the cable must be rated for direct burial. I recommend running conduit for the entire run as it will provide the best protection.
    2. Be sure that the load of the added box in your shop combined with the load to your house is not greater that the meter base and utility company service rating.
