Where Is Kingfisher Beer From?

    United Breweries Group, located in Bangalore, India, is the world's second largest brewer and the biggest in India. The company promotes most of its beer under the Kingfisher brand. It has recently launched the Kingfisher Airlines which is a domestic airline service in India.

    The company is led by Dr Vijay Mallya who is also currently a member of the Indian parliament. The UB Group was started by a Thomas Leishman in the year 1857. The group learnt the art of making beer from a South Indian based British breweries.  

    At the young age of twenty two, Vittal Mallya was selected as the company's first Indian director in the year 1947. In the following year he replaced R G N Price as the chairman of the corporation. In the beginning United Breweries use to make beer in large quantities for the British troops.
