When Should We Get Puppies Shots?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Puppy vaccinations start at 6-8 weeks of age, this is also when they are weaned.  The distemper/parvo combination needs to be given every 3-4 weeks until the puppies are 16 weeks of age.  Rabies vaccination is given between 3-6 months depending upon local laws.  Other vaccinations may be given pending local diseases or life style of the dog.  Puppies should also have a fecal analysis and undergo 2 rounds of routine deworming.  Spay or neuter is typically done at 4-8 months of age depending upon the individual puppy.  It is important to spay females before their first heat cycle as this reduces the chance of mammary cancer to almost zero.
