The Mosaic covenant, or Law covenant, was given to Israel in three parts: The Ten Commandments which expressed the righteous will of God; The Judgements, which governed the social life of Israel; and The Ordinances, which governed the religious life of Israel. Unlike Christians under the New Covenant, the Israelites' sins were not already forgiven so they had to adhere to strict rules for making sacrificial offering as cover for the daily sins that they commited. Basically, the covenant assured the Israelities that as long as they kept the Ten Commandments of God, obeyed the Judgements in their dealings with others, and obeyed the Ordinances for the building of the Tabernacle, offering sacrifices, and worshipping the Lord faithfully; they would be assured of Eternal life in Heaven.
