    The oldest person to ever live in the history of mankind was Jeanne Calment (February 21, 1875 - August 4, 1997), a French woman. She was 122 years and 164 days old when she passed away. She was best known for meeting Van Gogh, a fact which came into prominence during the 1980s after which she received a lot of attention from the media. The oldest person living in the world right now is a Japanese woman called Yone Minagawa. This has been recorded around the 28th/29th January 2007. She is currently 114 years old. She was born in Fukuoka in Japan on 4th January 1893. She is technically the youngest amongst the super centenarians to hold the title of world's oldest person. Her age when she became the oldest person in the world was 114 years and 25 days.

      According to the Guinness book of world records the oldest person living in the world is a women named Marie Febronie from Quebec, she was born on August 29th 1880 and is now a 127 years old. The second oldest living person takes the second place in the Guinness book is a woman named Sara Knauss from Philadelphia and she was born on September 24th 1880 and is only a month younger to the oldest person living. However, there is an Elizabeth Ma Pampo from Israel who turned 128 this year. She has not been officially considered by the Guinness book as the oldest living person because Elizabeth does not a have a verified claim or a legal document of her age.
