Daycare Worker's Not Receiving Overtime Pay. Is It Legal?

I work in a Daycare Center and a lot of the parents there receive assistance to pay for their child care. My question is is it legal for my employer to not pay overtime?? I work between 45 and 50 hours a week and do not receive time and a half for the extra hours.

Yes, it is illegal for your employer not to pay you overtime, unless you have something contractual stating differently.  visit or contact your local wage & labor board which can be found in the blue pages of your phone book. Good luck♄

This is definitely illegal. Some jobs get around it by the way they set up the pay period; however, learn the loop holes if you have any. Contact your Labor Board and report them. You may have some back wages coming to you. Good luck.

I agree with everyone.  It should be illegal.  My husband works on a farm and he is salaried and works at least fifty hours a week and he don't get over time.  Supposedly there should be a law but there are certain jobs and if you are salaried that the employers just don't care.  I would look into it more.  Good luck.
