The Belgian flag has three colours black yellow and red, in that order from left to right and, there colours appear in three vertical stripes, making for a very striking flag. It was decided on in 1831.
The colours were taken from the arms of Brabant, and the coat of arms today, features the lion of Brabant, formerly the low countries emblem.
the language of Belgium is Flemish, and it's capital Brussels is where the European Parliament sit, and make the decisions about the future of the EU.
The flag is rather odd in that unlike other flags it has the proportions 13; 15, making it a different shape from the others.
