What Is 8 + 6 Divided By 3?

Keep getting this math problem wrong. Answer I thought would be 4 Remainder 2. But got it wrong. Could it be 11?

    8 + 6/3 = 8 + 2 = 10

The problems that show up here generally have these operators:
    exponentiation (^) as in x^2
multiplication (*) as in x*2. This can also be 2x or (2)(x) or 2(x). x2 tends to be ambiguous because superscripts and subscripts are not always carried through the text translation that Blurtit does. (It often means x^2.) Sometimes x is used to signify multiplication: 4x6=24.
    division (/) as in 6/3
    addition (+) as in 8+6
    subtraction (-) as in 8-6
function evaluation (function[]) as in sin[x] or sqrt[x]
    parentheses () as in (8+6)/3

Of these, exponentiation has the highest precedence. That means you do it first. So x^4/2 means (x^4)/2

Multiplication and division have the next highest precedence, so they are done next, in order left to right. So 10/5*2 = (10/5)*2 = 4

Addition and subtraction have the lowest priority, so they are done last, in order left to right.

Parentheses group operands, potentially modifying the evaluation order. Functions have their operands evaluated as described above. Otherwise, they are treated as a single entity. Sometimes you need to be a little careful how you write them: sin[x]^2 would generally be taken to mean (sin[x])^2, never sin[x^2].

It is best to use parentheses if the meaning is ambiguous. The problem here is "8 + 6 Divided By 3", which was taken to mean (8+6)/3 when it could also be interpreted as 8+(6/3). Going by the operator precedence rules above, the latter interpretation is the correct one when there are no parentheses. It doesn't help to write it out in words, unless it can be done unambiguously.

      Well,
      8 + 6 = 14
      Therefore, 14/3 = 4*(2/3)

      Remainder will be 2

It is simple you have not applied the rules of bidmas. The equation 8+6 / 2 should be done as follows. 6/2= 3. So 8+3 = 11. This is because The d in bidmas standing for division is always before the a standing for addition. If you follow the rules of bidmas you should always be able to complete those equations without fail

        Well, 8 + 6 = 14. 14/3 is 4.66. So, 8 + 6 (14) divided by 3 equals 4.66
