Mushrooms are said to be the fleshy bodies which are Spore bearing fruiting bodies that typically are fungi. These mushrooms are normally produced above the ground or on the soil; they are also produced on their food sources.  The name mushrooms can also be designated to the entire fungus which is in culture; the name can also be used while making reference to the thallus.

Mushrooms apart from being used in food, can also be used for the dyeing of wool and for also other natural fibres.  It is said that the chromophores that are present in the mushroom are organic in compound and has the potential and are very much capable of producing vivid and strong colours. All of the colours which are seen in the spectrum can be achieved with a mushroom.
