There's nothing about it that would be considered abnormal. A lot of people change their minds a hundred times before they can decide on the path they want to take. Other people know, at an early age, what's right for them. A love of animals starts at an early age. It's something that usually stays with us all our lives.

It's very admirable to want to be a vet. The truth of the matter is that many people want to be veterinarians until they realize how much it takes to become one. It doesn't carry the same prestige or the income of a "people" doctor. A vet has to know how to care for many animals, not just one. Yet I can imagine it being more rewarding to treat animals that can't tell the doctor where it hurts or what happened.

I knew what I wanted to be when I was young. Unfortunately it didn't work out. My career was good, but sometimes I still think about what I wanted, and in my own way I stay knowledgeable about it. So if you're sure know what you want, go for it. The earlier you know, the better you can prepare for it.
