What Is The Message Of The "Dog And The Wolf" Fable?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A dog and a wolf were talking. The wolf admitted that his life was very hard, that he had to hunt constantly for food and was always in danger. The dog boasted that his own life was much better. He got as much food as he wanted without having to look for it, was protected from harm and had a comfortable place to sleep. The wolf, who had been very hungry for some time,  was fascinated, and when the dog invited him to come and live with him, accepted the offer.
As they were going to the dog's home, the wolf noticed that his new friend had lost a lot of hair around his neck area, and asked how it had happened. "Oh," said the dog, "that's just where the chain wears it away." The wolf learned to his horror that the dog was chained up every night, and thought nothing of it. He bounded away, saying "It is better to starve free than to live as a slave."
