I love poetry...don't know that I have a favorite...just ones I appreciate.  The one that came to mind with the question was "If" by Rudyard Kipling.  I love Emily Dickinson, Elizabeth Barrett-Browning, silly poems by Shel Silverstein...so on.

If i could stop one heart from breaking
I shall not live in vain
If i can ease one life the aching
           Or cool one pain

Or help one fainting robin unto his nest again
I shall not live in vain

I can't explain why i just do you know?

The Arrow by Longfellow;  I breathed a song into the air, it fell to the earth I knew not where for who has sight so keen and strong, that it can follow the flight of song. I shot an arrow into the air, so swiftly it flew, my sight, could not follow it in it's flight, long long afterward in an Oak, I found the arrow still unbroken, and the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.[ and that is from memory, so may be missing a word or 2.]

My favorite poem is called "Heaven" and I cant really share it here for fear of plagiarism. The last time I shared one of my poems I got it back several months later with a bunch of silly pictures attached to it and credited to "author unknown". I wont let that happen again.  as for famous poets.. I love Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and Edgar Allan Poe.
