Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The NME Awards are one of the important awards in the world of music presented annually by the music magazine New Musical Express (NME). The 2006 awards sponsored by Shockwaves was unique in the sense that for the first time the same band won the Best New Band as well as Best British Band in the same year; the band Arctic Monkeys made history when they received both awards for the year 2006.

The Arctic Monkeys an indie rock band hailing from Sheffield, UK and formed in 2002 started their career with a bang when their first two singles 'I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor' and 'When the Sun Goes Down' entered the UK Singles chart at the number 1 position. The current members of the band are Alex Turner (vocals and guitar), Jamie Cook (rhythm guitar), Matt Helders (drums and vocals) and Nick O'Malley (bass).
