Why Do Roses Look Leggy?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Rose bushes require pruning back once a year, usually in late Winter or Spring unless they are climbing vine roses.
Each branch should be pruned back to about 12 inches from the main stalk and cut at an angle about 1/4 inch above a node.
They also need around 4 to 5 hours of full sun per day.
If they aren't getting enough sun, they will grow longer shoots to try and reach for the sun.
They also require monthly feedings of fertilizer and need to be watered deeply twice per week if no rain.
