Is Virtual School Effective For My Child?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

The sad thing about home schooling is that there are certain areas where you lose a bit of quality in the education.  There are just some subjects, like history and math, where having a trained teacher really makes a big difference.  It's also usually unreasonable to expect a parent to be an expert in all subjects.  There are some things that help supplement the experience.  For instance, I know you can go to www.fieldstoneacademy.org and they have live online classes to supplement homeschooling and stuff like that.  I'm sure if you look around there are others, that's just one my friend took and he said it was pretty good.

      Yes

      Virtual
schooling has really come a long way.  It
used to be nothing more than distance education through a school like BYU
Independent Study  ce.byu.edu .  Then it moved on to more active approaches
like recorded audio and things like that.
Now there are places like Fieldstone Academy  www.fieldstoneacademy.org
that have fully live classes.  The student sits at home and sees the teacher
teaching live.  There's also a lot
happening with online tutoring and things like that.
