Are Douglas Fir Trees Toxic For Cats?

I just purchased a douglas fir christmas tree, and I've noticed that my tabby keeps trying to drink water from the tree stand. I scare him away as often as I can in fear that this tree is indeed toxic and therefore harmful to my feline. Does any one know if this habit will pose danger to my cat?

I have had a lot of real trees for christmas and a couple of them have been douglas firs and have always had a cat its natural for a cat to want to drink out of there just like they like to drink out of toilets and sinks i have never had a problem with a cat or my dogs getting sick from it though
