What Was A Nickname For The British Troops?

    Hi notekicker. During the war they were  referred to as tommies.   I think they were called tommies because at that time if an advertisement from the government was on display showing how to fill in a form or sign a cheque, it was always signed Tommy Atkins. In America it would have been john Hancock , after the signatory to the proclamation of independence.
