    What Was A Nickname For The British Troops?

    I am new to blurtit and would like to ask questions but i am not sure how to fill in the ask question section on the site itself. I am looking for answers to my worksheet so i can make a good grade on it . And if i don't get the right answers i will fail the worksheet and the eighth grade so please give me the answers i am looking for i will do anything for you to give me the right answers plus my mom told me i could get on this site to get the answers

    Hi notekicker. During the war they were referred to as tommies. I think they were called tommies because at that time if an advertisement from the government was on display showing how to fill in a form or sign a cheque, it was always signed Tommy Atkins. In America it would have been john Hancock , after the signatory to the proclamation of independence.
