Organic Farming is the name given to a kind of farming that excludes or in some cases limits the use of pesticides and insecticides and also depends on natural fertilizers rather than chemical based ones. Organic farming is mainly concerned with maintaining the quality of the soil and involves various techniques like crop rotation and use of organic manure obtained from bio degradable wastes and agricultural residue.
Organic farming is today a growing industry in many countries with people becoming increasingly aware of the consequences of consumption of foods high in pesticide content or those that have been produced by using unnatural procedures like genetic means. Animals are not kept in uncomfortable and unhygienic conditions also the dairy related activities are conducted without the use of any hormone and enzymes to increase milk production.
There are various organizations like the National Organic Program (NOP) in the US and the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements that have set standards for organic farms to be observed complying which the products are branded as organically produced.
