Where Does The Italian Surname Curra Come From? I Heard It Was Not Originally From Italy?

I was told that Curra was a gypsy name, but that is my family name & we are from Italy, i would like to trace it's origins back farther. Thanks.

According to my knowledge, the surname Curra has been derived from the name Curran. The Curran family belonged to the Irelands. They were from a place called Waterford and were settled there since early times. From this place they settled around the world.
