In What Year Did Paolo Di Canio Sign For West Ham United?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Paolo DI Canio signed for West Ham United in January 199, signing for the hammers for one point seven million pounds after leaving Sheffield Wednesday.

Di Canio's debut for West Ham came against Wimbledon in a goalless draw at Selhurst Park on the thirtieth of January 1999, where he came on as a substitute.

Di Canio's full debut came in a four nil home defeat against Arsenal on February 6th.  His first goal for the Hammers came at the end of February, in a two nil home victory against Blackburn Rovers.

Paolo scored a further three times that season, once in a home win against Newcastle United, once in another home win against Derby County and Di Canio also scored the consolation goal in a five one home defeat against Leeds Utd.

It wasn't until the following season that Di Canio scored his first away goal for West Ham. He achieved this in a three nothing away win at Bradford City in late August 1999-2000 season.
