How Does One Play An Arpeggio?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Playing an arpeggio is not an easy thing to do and requires a lot of practice. Arpeggios are usually played on the guitar, bass guitar and other kinds of stringed instruments. It can also be played on a keyboard. Arpeggios are a kind of an exercise where you need to play notes of a chord continuously rather than simultaneously. It is also often called as a broken chord. The notes are played very fast on a particular octave or on a range of octaves.

On a stringed instrument such as a guitar, an arpeggio is played on all the six strings of the guitar and you need to rapidly switch between the strings of the guitar. A guitarist who excels in playing arpeggios is also known as a shredder or a shred guitarist. Some of the most notable shred guitarists of all time are Ritchie Blackmore, Yngwie Malmsteen, Vinnie Moore Steve Vai, Zakk Wylde, Paul Gilbert and Michael Angelo.
