The word Durango came from Spanish and the meaning it conveys is that of a well-watered place. As the Durango situated in the US state of Colorado is a well- watered place because of its geographical location on the river Animas, it is attributed with the name with which people identify it.
In the history of America, Durango is known to be the place for the control of which many fierce battles had been fought by various groups. Many Spanish explorers roamed the place in search of gold also.
Today it is known as the place which is still holding the fort of the great cowboy tradition and also one of the railroads that is considered as running hundred years behind the time.
There are some other places also that are known to the world as Durango. The places are spread all over the globe and you can find them in Spain, in the US state of Iowa, in the country of Mexico and few other small places.
