It is very important to set up a useful survival kit before going on any camping trip in the wilderness. When in the middle of the woods, you cannot expect to have quick access to emergency services and therefore campers are often responsible for their own safety.
The first things to pack in your survival kit are first-aid products. These include band-aids, a bottle of benzoyl peroxide, gauze, scissors, tweezers, plastic gloves, calamine lotion and a thermometer.
In addition to these essential first-aid products, be sure to pack equipment with which you can start a fire, as well as rain coats, extra blankets, flash lights, lighters, gas lamps or torches and at least one pocket knife. If you intend on fishing, also be sure to have a fishing line with you.
Although one may presume that access to adequate water will not be a problem in the wilderness, it is important to remember that it is not always possible to drink the water in lakes, rivers and streams due to pollutants, or bacteria. Therefore, be sure to pack plenty of water purification tablets.
