Yes definitely, Testing improves quality of software. It is obvious as if you remove all errors, bugs, and faults from any software then it will directly affect on quality of that software. Now a question should come in your mind as every software goes through the Software Development Life Cycle and quality assurance involves the entire SDLC then why software testing is also necessary for maintaining quality of software.

Answer is this no doubt quality assurance involves the entire SDLC but quality assurance is prevention against errors and software testing is oriented to cure. Let me explain it with a simple example. Suppose you are going for shopping in winter season. You protect yourself against temperature, flu, and cough by wearing a jacket made of wool, wearing gloves on hands, and wearing a warm cap on your head.

But besides taking all these precautions against cold, you feel pain in throat and temperatures then what will you do? Definitely you will go to the doctor and you will take medicine. Similarly if software has bugs, errors, and faults after going through SDLC then for making your software error free you will perform software testing and if you will not do this then you cannot get rid from errors. If your software is launched with errors and omissions then you can think yourself how badly it will affect on software.
