She could of thought they were in danger and she thought the best way for keeping them safe was her killing them
Most pitbulls that give birth for the first time aren't experienced enough to be able to care for pups. It might have been an accident. If she gives birth again make sure you watch her for a week or two and correct her if she's doing something wrong.
