The pregnancy tests should test as well as they ever can, if you are 3 days past when your period would usually come.
A lot of women are certain they're pregnant (it's happened to me) and then they weren't. It happens to women desperately trying for a baby every month, tell you the truth -- not me, I hasten to add!!
Try testing again in a week, if your period still hasn't come.
